tiny bones press is a design + letterpress studio that specializes in fine stationery featuring hand printed paper goods and book projects founded by megan (she/her).

megan spent her childhood in nj, college in california, the last fifteen years working in the art + photo industry of NYC and forever balancing east and west coast design sensibilities.

we aim to create thoughtful tangible experiences for people. whether that be through personal stationery, brand design, illustration or imagery.

our ethos is rooted in connection and relationships - about small details having the capacity to ignite and inspire bigger things.

why “tiny bones”?

bones because of a deeply vested interest in anthropology and through that interest, learning that the tiniest bones in the body are in the inner ear - what an amazing thing it is to be able to listen.

PROCESS

each piece is conceptualized, illustrated and designed in house. all pieces are hand-fed letterpress or foil (one by one) on vintage presses. this slow process allows for every piece of printed material to be produced by hand - quality is at the forefront and art is at the heart.

SUSTAINABILITY

we proudly commit ourselves to using fully recyclable materials and packaging. our recent packaging rebrand has allowed us to remove plastic from all facets of our product (yes, even the stickers and their adhesive are fully recyclable or compostable). our planet is a priority and we go above and beyond to ensure that we are doing our part with the materials we put out into the world.

the papers we work with are made from recycled (often discarded) materials, fully recyclable on their own and our entire letterpress process is sustainable. there are no motors on any of our presses, everything is manual (including the inking).

process

letterpress printing is a relief printing process founded by johannes gutenberg in the mid-15th century.

moveable type or plates press against the paper through a printing press to leave an impression and/or ink. the weight of your paper and the pressure of the press determine how deep your impression will be.

the hand-fed pressing process that i use is a manual one, that allows for each piece and pressing to be unique and custom done. please keep in mind that with such an organic process, there will be slight variations from batch to batch.

design + pricing

tiny bones press can work with an existing logo and/or design that you already have or i am readily available to design your project with you. each custom design has an additional base design fee and includes three rounds of adjustment, with additional charges applicable after the third round.

the entire process, from design concepting to delivery, can take between 4-6 weeks / sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the scope of the project. there are many sensitive variables in each project and i do strive to simplify and make everything move as smoothly as possible.

once I review everything, I will send you a quote and a projected timeline.

there are various options such as adding color, thicker paper stock and envelope pressing as well.

policies

tiny bones press accepts paypal, certified check + cash (if you are in the NYC area).

all sales are final.

for custom design orders, once you have approved preliminary timeline and price range, you will need to submit a 50% deposit to start the design + production process. once production is complete, you will receive an email with the photo of your completed job and a final payment request. once received, i will ship out the order and send you tracking information.

if for any reason, you have begun the design process, but do not want to continue the production process, i will refund you your 50% deposit less the design fees and a 20% cancellation fee.

at the end of the design process, you will receive a proof via email to approve before production begins. please proof very carefully, as tiny bones press is not responsible for any errors that were present on the approved proofs.
