summer twenty-nineteen

well it was a busy summer.

first things first though - i am resurrecting the happenings blog + newsletter from the depths of 2016. so thanks for being here with me!
i’m excited to get back to connecting with you more in depth, share a bit about what’s been happening at the studio and hear your thoughts about it all.

our most major happening of the summer was truly the culmination of our new stationery boxes.

after a couple years of research, prototypes and production, we finalized our new packaging and it exceeded all my expectations. we had gone through so many stages to try to avoid the plastic boxes seen throughout the industry (even the hidden plastic in certain paper boxes) and it was hard - basically there are no easy options. proudly though, we made it! now, we are free of any single use plastic and couldn’t be happier. it feels really good to have everything reflect the brand’s values and also my own. i think it’s really important to make small changes (and of course, big ones) towards sustainability and doing whatever we are able to as small businesses and individuals. the boxes are completely recyclable, even down to the stickers, and made from sustainable materials. our paper has always been eco-friendly and now we are completely plastic free! onward and upwards to 2020!

and then well, we got to debut those beauts, along with our new design series at shoppe object in august. i met so many great people, new friends, new stockists. after doing both the national stationery show and nynow, it really was a breath of fresh air. it was such a hard decision to leave NSS, but it was the right one for us. (i did miss seeing friends though). what felt so unique about shoppe object was how thoughtfully curated it was. it really lended itself to help a buyer find items that all live within the same sphere of influence and for me personally, it was great to meet so many creative individuals across all industries. i’ll be back there this february - reach out if you will be too!

on the personal front, having a full time job and also taking care of infant twins full time has been extremely challenging. it’s almost been a full year though! i’m so lucky to be able to do it - as my studio is currently right off my home -  but i would be lying if i said it wasn’t overwhelming. now that i have a good team i work with and the babes are solid in their schedule, i’m trying to get out at least once a month to see something inspiring. i’ll share my adventure findings here at the end of each newsletter and hopefully i can spread the inspiration. and as always, if you know of something amazing upcoming in the ny area, please share with me!

this september, i spent it catching up with friends and exploring the new york art book fair hosted by printed matter. i got some great books, saw some inspiring pieces and overall had that fresh breath of air that i needed. it’s important to take a little time sometimes. i only have missed one of these book fairs since i’ve been in ny and it was last year (because i was 34 weeks pregnant and unable to move anywhere really). ps1 was still as hot as i remember lol - and the books were equally as good.

things i picked up: donald judd : interviews, anni albers notebook, ellsworth kelly : plant drawings (new one just released!), stefan marx zine

alright, that about wraps it up for now!

october note inspiration: send your friend a note saying hey and include a piece of candy

see ya in november  :)

love,

megan
